Žilina, June 6, 2025. The NGO Starý Klíž, whose goal is to support and preserve traditional folk values, culture and crafts, honoured the Secretary-General of Servare et Manere with the “Staroklížsky kumšt” award. Mr. Marek Sobola and pianist Júlia Grejtáková, chief opera accompanist of the National Theatre Košice, received the award on May 30th during the famous concert of pianist Svetlana Smolina. The essence of humanity and respect for traditional values was the recitation performance of actress Ida Rapaičová.
The main activity of the Starý Klíž Association is the organization of events that create conditions for the implementation of cultural, educational, social and leisure activities not only for the residents of the Klíž Valley, but also for the entire Slovakia. The association also recognizes artists and other significant figures who, with their attitude, life and deeds, contribute to artistic diversity in the field of creative work and, thanks to their talent and craftsmanship, break down barriers and contribute to friendship and understanding between people.
Marek Sobola received the award for the worldwide dissemination of ideas of humanity and the principles of understanding between nations through art, as well as for his involvement in the creation and establishment of the “Staroklížsky kumšt” award and for spreading the good name of Starý Klíž.
