Arboretum Groenlandicum Tree of Peace Narsarsuaq

Grove of Peace in Greenland

Žilina/Narsarsuaq, 15 December 2021. The Slovak NGO Servare et Manere, which places great emphasis on ecology, traditions and sustainable values, has recently begun negotiations with NGO Greenland Trees to implement the international Tree of Peace initiative on this largest island in the world. Greenland Trees point to climate change by planting trees, which are also the main tool of the Tree of Peace project and also one of the key tools of cultural diplomacy.

Greenland Trees Central Office is located in Utrecht, the Netherlands, the capital of the climate. Its members are Greenlandic nature experts and climate scientists who have been planting trees in Greenland for more than a decade. As an intersection of the Tree of Peace and Greenland Trees, the whole Grove of Peace will be planted instead of one Tree of Peace – the very first in the world! The most suitable place for planting our Grove, which will later be the Forest of Peace, is the Greenland Arboretum (Arboretum Groenlandicum), founded in 1954 near the town of Narsarsuaq. More than 100,000 trees grow in the Arboretum.

After the planting, our Grove of Peace will also draw attention to global warming and its consequences, which affect all people on planet Earth. By planting it, we will confirm the interdisciplinary and international message of the Tree of Peace.
