Memorial service for the last Romanian King

Zvolen, December 5, 2022. King Michael I of Romania (October 25, 1921 – December 5, 2017) passed away five years ago. Dr. Marek Sobola, Secretary-General of Servare et Manere, today honoured the memory of King Michael I, who played one of the important roles also in the history of Slovakia, by laying a wreath at the only memorial with his portrait in Slovakia. The memorial is located next to the Tree of Peace that was planted in 2021 at the Central Military Cemetery of the Romanian Royal Army in Zvolen as a part of a series of Slovak memorial services to mark the Centenary of the birth of the King Michael I of Romania organized under the auspices of the Romanian Royal Family. The Slovak Armed Forces together with the Romanian Armed Forces and the Slovak Ministry of Defense cooperated on this event. The tree was co-planted by His Royal Highness Prince Radu of Romania and Romanian Ambassador His Excellency Călin Fabian.
