Bratislava, October 1, 2025. Today, at the Bratislava Castle, Her Excellency Nataša Pirc Musar, President of the Republic of Slovenia received the Tree of Peace Memorial Plaque from Marek Sobola, the highest award of the Slovak association Servare et Manere based in Žilina, joining international laureates from Denmark, New Zealand, France, French Polynesia, Bulgaria, Switzerland and Slovakia.
Nataša Pirc Musar is the current President of the Republic of Slovenia and also the former Slovenian Information Commissioner and also the former President of the Slovenian Red Cross.
Servare et Manere pays attention to prominent figures from around the world who, with their meritorious deeds, contribute to strengthening peace throughout the world. The Slovenian Madam President is one of these prominent figures whose initiative to increase the level of friendship between nations has been recognized by Servare et Manere. The association also greatly appreciates the exceptional initiative and activities of the Slovenian President aimed at international dialogue and the promotion of peace between nations.
“Your Excellency, it is an immense honour for me that on behalf of Servare et Manere I can present you with the Tree of Peace Memorial Plaque, the highest award of our association. We believe that with this award we will encourage Your Excellency to further and continuously spread the ideas of peace and understanding between nations, which lead to the sustainable development of human society,” said Marek Sobola, Secretary-General of Servare et Manere at the award ceremony, which was attended by around 30 guests from Slovenia.
The Servare et Manere association was founded with the purpose of promoting cultural and historical monuments in Slovakia, including their restoration and reconstruction. Since 2018, after the establishment of the international Tree of Peace project, the main task of Servare et Manere has been to support activities related to the development of peace and friendship at the international and domestic levels. Throughout its history, the association has been involved in several international projects and is also involved in publishing activities. Servare et Manere was also granted Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UN ECOSOC).
As part of the most successful diplomatic project of Servare et Manere, 40 Trees of Peace have already been planted in 22 countries on 4 continents, including Slovenia. The Tree of Peace initiative connects two important themes of our time, the first is peace and the second is the climate crisis.
