Čadca, September 9, 2025. The Kysuce Museum (Kysucké múzeum) will host an exhibition titled “Tajomstvo erbových figúr – The Secret of Coat of Arms Figures” by the end of 2025. Heraldry is the symbols we encounter every day. We may not even realize it, but coat of arms are part of our everyday lives. The exhibition describes the basic principles and rules of heraldry. It will guide you through the development of coats of arms, towns and villages in Kysuce from the 18th century, when municipal seals began to be used, to the present day. Visitors will be able to compare real objects, such as agricultural tools or animals, with their simplified depictions in coats of arms. The exhibition thus reveals the secrets of coat of arms figures and explains their symbolism.

The author of the exhibition is the Secretary-General of Servare et Manere and heraldist Mgr. Ing. Marek Sobola, PhD., who mainly deals with institutional and personal ecclesiastical heraldry, especially in the area of Oceania and Asia. He created the coats of arms of many ecclesiastical provinces of Roman Catholic Missions in the Pacific Ocean, which can also be seen at the exhibition. These are the coats of arms of the Dioceses of Bougainville and Kundiawa in Papua New Guinea, the Diocese of Rarotonga in the Cook Islands, the Diocese of Tarawa and Nauru with its seat in Kiribati and the Diocese of Tonga were selected for the exhibition, as well as the coat of arms of His Excellency Sandro Overend Rigillo OFM, Apostolic Vicar of Benghazi and Apostolic Administrator of the Vicariate of Derna in Libya. In addition to the collections of the Kysuce Museum and the Marek Sobola’s collection, the exhibition features items loaned and donated by the following institutions: British Embassy in Bratislava, Catholic Diocese of Žilina, Catholic Diocese of Nitra, His Eminence Dominik Cardinal Duka, Museum of Považie region, Malá Fatra National Park Administration, House of Ascania and Teutonic Order. The opening ceremony was attended by leaders of regional cultural organizations, as well as diplomats from Romania, Pakistan, and Indonesia.
